Giornalisti, blogger, star di Hollywood e modelle: tutti in ghingheri per cenare con il Presidente e la First Lady al Washington Hilton.

Oh, I see: you have lost the invitation to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner too!

Journalists, bloggers, Hollywood’s stars and top models: everybody glammed up to dine with the President and the First Lady at the Washington Hilton.

Tradizione politica ed evento mondano insieme: la cena dei corrispondenti (inaugurata per la prima volta nel 1920) è l’evento che celebra l’associazione autonoma dei giornalisti che seguono la Casa Bianca; per tradizione durante l’evento, il presidente e la sua amministrazione si prendono volontariamente in giro, spesso aiutati anche da comici, che intervengono con monologhi o sketch.

Più di uno show: l’evento ha infatti anche uno scopo benefico, in quanto durante la cena si raccolgono fondi per il finanziamento di borse di studio in campo giornalistico.

Sembra una cosa fantastica vero?

Ma passiamo agli invitati, perché voglio davvero sapere come ci si veste per una cena con il presidente degli Stati Uniti d'America:

Political tradition and high-society event: the WHCD (held for the first time in 1920)celebrates the independent association of the journalists that cover the White House; following tradition during the dinner the president and his administration mock themselves, usually helped by comedians, who entertain the audience with monologues or sketches.

More than a show: the event has also a charity goal, as funds are raised to benefit gifted students in college journalism programs.
