It looks like no one wants to be type-casted in Hollywood: models turns photographers; actors turn singers; singers turn designers and billionaire entrepeneurs turn presidents.

Tom Ford is no exception: a world-known fashion designer turned movie director.

Nocturnal Animals is his second experience beyond the camera: the thriller movie premiered in Italy on the 17^th of November and will be out today, November 18^th , in the USA.

Animali Notturni è la sua seconda esperienza dietro la macchina da presa: il thriller è uscito nelle sale italiane il 17 Novembre, mentre negli Stati Uniti debutterà il 18 Novembre.

 According to Peter Bradshaw, Ford’s first work - A Single Man (2009) with Colin Firth - was “outrageously ad-like”: should we feel concerned abut this second cinematic effort, since the designer has dedicated himself also to the screenplay?

Nope.

Nocturnal Animals is a dark yet romantic thiller based on Austin Wright's novel "Tony & Susan" (1993): Ford's visionary take on the book has already received the jury prize at the 73^rd Venice International Film Festival.
Thrill, drama and fashion: what else?

Thanks to his fame (or maybe his budget), Tom Ford managed to cast Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal – two big stars in Hollywood, who definitely know how to deliver good thriller movies.

The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are so enthusiastic that we can easily agree on one thing: Nocturnal Animals is a must see

COOKING WITH LE PRINCE #11

THE LUMBERJACK'S FEAST

Ingredients:

-For the red wine maltagliati (fresh pasta cut into irregular shapes)

750 ml red wine

1 egg

400g semolina flour

-For the white ragu (meat sauce without tomato)

2 sausages

1 stalk of celery

1 medium carrot

1 knob of butter

2 spoonfuls of oil

200 ml white wine

50g raisins

100g roasted hazelnuts (with no skin)

200g pot double cream

sage, rosemary, salt, pepper, juniper berries.

Method:

In a pan, sauté butter, oil and minced celery and carrot. Mince the sausages and add them; cook over high flame till the whole starts to roast. Add white wine, herbs and spices, and cover the pan; cook in this way for 40 minutes.

In the meanwhile, let's prepare the maltagliati: pour in the red wine and bring to the boil over a high heat until reduced to 200g. Let it cool down.

Knead the flour with the red wine reduction and one egg till the dough is uniform. To adjust the texture, add more flour or milk, to make the dough more compact or softer according to the case.

Roll out the dough till 1mm of thickness (not thinner, bacause it must appear homemade). Now cut the dough randomly, creating irregulare shapes with the same size more or less.

Boil the maltagliati into salted water for 2 minutes. Finish the sauce adding raisins, hazelnuts and double cream. Add the maltagliati to the sauce and sauté for a minute.

Le voilà!

Recommendations:

1. When preparing the red wine reduction, take note of the weight of the empty pan; in this way, you can easily control how much liquid evaporates.

2. The more the sauce is cooked, the tastier it will be! If it dries off too much, add some stock or water.

3. This dish is really versatile, and it can match both with red or white wine...or a good dark beer.

Italian Version:

LA SCORPACCIATA DEL BOSCAIOLO

Ingredienti:

-Per i maltagliati al vino rosso

750 ml vino rosso

1 uovo

400 g farina di semola

-Per il ragù bianco

2 salsicce

una costa di sedano

una carota media

una noce di burro

due cucchiai di olio

200 ml vino bianco

50 g uvetta

100 g nocciole sgusciate e tostate

200 ml panna fresca

Salvia, rosmarino, pepe, sale, bacche di ginepro.

Procedimento:

In una padella preparare un soffritto con burro, olio, sedano e carota tritati. Aggiungere le salsicce sbriciolate e far rosolare a fuoco alto fino a quando cominceranno a tostarsi. Aggiungere il vino bianco, le erbe e le spezie, mescolare, coprire con un coperchio e lasciar cuocere in questa maniera per almeno 40 minuti.

Mentre il sugo cuoce c'è tutto il tempo per fare i maltagliati! Preparare una riduzione di vino rosso facendolo bollire a fuoco vivo finché non resteranno solo 200 grammi di liquido. Far raffreddare.

Impastare la farina di semola con la riduzione di vino rosso e l'uovo fino ad ottenere un composto omogeneo. Aggiustare la consistenza della pasta con ulteriore farina o con un goccio di latte per renderla più consistente o più morbida secondo necessità. Stendere la pasta fino allo spessore di un millimetro (non troppo sottile, il piatto deve avere un aspetto casereccio!). Tagliare la pasta a caso, creando delle forme irregolari aventi tutte più o meno la stessa grandezza.

Lessare i maltagliati in acqua bollente salata per circa due minuti. Ultimare il sugo aggiungendo uvetta, nocciole e panna. Aggiungere i maltagliati al sugo e saltare in padella per un minuto.

Le voilà!

Consigli:

1. Quando preparate la riduzione di vino rosso, annotate il peso della pentola vuota. In questo modo potrete controllare facilmente quanto liquido evapora nel tempo.

2. Il ragù più cuoce e più risulta gustoso! Se dovesse asciugarsi troppo potete aggiungere un po' di brodo o un po' d'acqua.

3. Questo è un piatto versatile a cui è possibile abbinare sia un vino rosso che un vino bianco...che una buona birra scura!

I giudici si dichiarano rapiti dalla performace, Manuel Agnelli si sbilancia e li definisce già pronti per il mercato discografico, quell'ironico "che ci fate ancora qua?" suona come il migliore dei complimenti.

Mentre i ragazzi si preparano per il quarto live è chiaro che stiamo entrando nel vivo della gara, dove ogni errore costa caro: noi del team #TEB ci auguriamo di vedere i Soul System sul podio finale, perchè hanno tutte carte in regola per sfondare nel mercato musicale.
