2015 CANNES AMFAR GALA: Models
11:01 PM
Ieri sera (21 Maggio) all'Hôtel du Cap, a Cap D'Antibes, ha avuto luogo uno degli eventi benefici di più successo al mondo e quello con più affluenza durante il festival di Cannes.
Stiamo ovviamente parlando dell'annuale Cinema Against AIDS gala.
One of the world’s most successful benefit events and the most coveted ticket in town during the Cannes International Film Festival took place yesterday evening (21st of May) at the Hotel du Cap, in Cap D'Antibes.
We are obviously talking about the 22nd annual Cinema Against AIDS gala.
Before having a look at what models wore for this spectacular and star-studded night, we shouldn't forget the importance of the event, which, to date, has raised more than $140 million for amfAR’s life-saving research programs and has helped keep the fight against AIDS in the global media spotlight.
BEST DRESSED
Perfection:
They couldn't have done any better than this.
Karlie Kloss in Tom Ford
Karlie's outfit was simply perfect: elegant and cool, easy but complete.

Lindsey Wixson in Gabriela Cadena
This look is editorial material.

Homage to the purpose of the gala:
Hats off to the next two models: not only did they look impeccable, but with their outfits, they reminded us of the meaning of the event.
Sasha Luss in Ulyana Sergeenko
Elegant and interesting dress, perfect colors and accessories.

Doutzen Kroes in Maison Margela by John Galliano
What an amazing dress: beautiful structure and beautiful color. It might look simple, but it's the perfection in every detail, that makes this dress outstanding.

Pure elegance:
Black (and white) and silver details: these girls know what elegance is.
Lily Donaldson in Saint Laurent
She had already worn a similar Saint Laurent gown on the Cannes Red Carpet (soon in our next post about all the models's red carpet looks), but this one is surely better: neat lines with silver embellishment and delicate jewelry (necklace, bracelet and earrings), which match just perfectly.

Izabel Goulart in Gyunel
An other event, another stunning outfit from Iza. Nothing else to add, apart from: we love that lipstick shade on her.

Natasha Poly in Saint Laurent
We ran out of words to compliment Natasha. Everything in this look is perfect and just look at those shoes: could she have ever chosen a better pair?!

Like a princess:
Big gowns and delicate colors.
Karolina Kurkova in Alexis Mabille
In my opinion this is one of the best dresses she has ever worn. Surely my favourite of the night (together with Doutzen). I'm litterally in love. Please take a moment to admire the details on the front.

Chanel Iman in Zuhair Murad
This is the best Chanel Iman has looked in a while, I hope she'll go on this way.

Almost there:
Just one little thing out of place.
Barbara Palvin in La Perla Atelier
I have been crushing on La Perla since ever, but even more since their Couture debut show. I am glad Barbara wore one of their creations, even though those shoes look gross and don't match the gown.

Daria Strokous in Alexandre Vauthier
I love this dress from the front, and I love the hair style, the bracelet and the clutch too, but unfortunaly I don't think that the back of the dress is as good, especially the long zip, which doesn't look really nice.

JUST ALRIGHT...
Not impressive:
Jourdan Dunn in Vera Wang: Jourdan looked good, but she has had much better oufits.
Maryna Linchuk in Blumarine: I don't feel like she has even tried, and beside that, the top needs to be fitted.

Sara Sampaio in Alexandre Vauthier and Shanina Shaik in Philipp Plein: sexy evening dresses, but forgettable. |

I would have loved it last winter:
Daniela Braga in Balmain: this Balmain jumpsuit is beautiful, but I'm sick of seeing it!
Liu Wen in Vionnet: the dress is very elegant and different, but the problem is that the fabric works better for winter.

WORST DRESSED
Not gala material:
Kendall Jenner in Calvin Klein Collection: I don't think this outfit is bad, but I wouldn't define it as a "gala outfit", starting from the cheap-looking fabric it's made of. The skirt is more a gipsy than elegant and the top looks like swimwear.
When the hotels in Cannes are full and you have to bring a tent from your home. |

Toni Garrn in Elie Saab and Anja Rubik in Dsquared2: bright, floor-length dresses, I can see them better at a summer beach event than at the AmfAR gala.

Unflattering drapes:
Lara Stone in Saint Laurent and Eniko Mihalik in Dsquared2: if they aren't pregnant, I think it's safe to say that those drapes aren't very flattering (or "flattening").

Too much:
Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace: an other Versace, who could have ever expected it... Ok, let's get serious, I'll be quick: this look is trash. She looks like she should be in a circus.
Gigi Hadid in Tom Ford: Gigi looked stunning, but I don't understand why someone had cut the middle of her top. The result is gross, no matter Gigi's effort to keep the look classy with neutral nude make up and shoes.

Adriana Lima in Alexandre Vauthier and Isabeli Fontana in Redemption Choppers: cut outs, cut outs and more cut outs. There is also a split to show off just a bit of skin. Some sparkles or studs on the little fabric which is left. How is the back of Adriana's dress? Well, cut outs and strings. Maybe, I say maybe, this is a bit too much. But if this is not enough, Adriana wore the worst make up I can rememeber having ever seen on her.

Mini dresses:
Soo Joo Park in Chanel: I like this look but definitely it's not good for the AmfAR gala. On one hand, a mini dress is not a good choice for such an event; on the other hand, the boots are too heavy for the occasion and the season.
Josephine Skriver in Gabriela Cadena: this is a style we have seen many times by now, a kind of mini dress, since you can see the whole legs. I'm a bit bored of them and I don't think they are very classy.

Boredom:
Joan Smalls in Givenchy and Nina Agdal in Redemption Choppers: boring dresses with some ugly transparences just to add details, this is all I can see here.
